Ecomarine Company Limited is a joint venture between Asian Marine Services PLC of Thailand and Globeco S.p.A. of Italy, established in 2005, with current registered capital of THB 18,250,000.- and a stated objective to conduct a business in providing water resources development services to agencies in both the public and private sectors.

Introducing Globeco S.p.A.

The Company was established in 1984 under the name of Ecolmare as an associate company of the Italmare Group, with investment focused on environmental research and development, especially marine environment.  The company later emerged as a leading service provider in terms of solutions to marine environmental problems.  In May 1999, Gobeco S.p.A. was established as a result of the merger of Ecolmare and Sviluppo Italia, a commercial bank whose major shareholder is the Ministry of Finance of Italy.  The company continued to provide effective solutions to diverse environmental problems utilizing tools, equipment, vessels and personnel with relevant expertise and experience.  Main services provided include collection and disposal of garbage and waste as well as elimination of unwanted marine plant-life, clean up of harbours and beaches, as well as oil spills, offshore fire-fighting operations.  At present Gobeco S.p.A. is one of the world’s largest builders of anti-pollution vessels, all of which are design and constructed by the company with ownership of most of the patented design and equipment.


Introducing Asian Marine Services PLC (ASIMAR)
Asian Marine Services Co., Ltd. was established in 1981 with registered capital of THB 200,000.- as a Marine Survey Company.  Later the company changed its initial objective to become a shipyard, providing shipbuilding and ship repair services in response to growing demand for high standard shipyard operation and increased its registered capital to THB 20 million.  The Company also purchased a floating dock from Japan, ASIMAR 1, to support its operation.  In 1995, an additional floating dock was acquired, ASIMAR 2, while registered capital was increased to THB 120 million and THB 170 million respectively, and was listed on the Stock Exchange of Thailand under the name Asian Marine Services Public Company Limited or ASIMAR.  In 2005, the Company entered into a joint venture with GLOBECO S.p.A. from Italy, a world leader in marine ecology and environmental services, to establish Ecomarine Company Limited (a subsidiary) whose main business focus is to provide marine environment services and pollution control such as elimination of water hyacinth, garbage and other waste, oil spill, etc. for clients in both the public and private sectors, in Thailand as well as in Asia, with the Company (ASIAMAR) taking charge of shipbuilding  to support such operation of this new business.

The Origins of Ecomarine Co., Ltd.

CORPORATE HISTORY

2005    Ecomarine Company Limited was established with registered capital of THB 25 million.


2006    Imported a waste material collection vessel (Pelican) from Italy and built 3 vessels (Grancevola) to harvest unwanted marine flora as part of its ecological fleet to offer environmental services to various agencies in both the public and private sectors aimed at sustainable development and conservation of natural water resources.


2007    Participated in the effort to resolve the crisis from a sugar barge accident in Ayutthaya Province by using the Pelican to carry out treatment and oxygenation operations of the polluted water through the Venturi-effect grid technology for water rehabilitation.


2010    Collaborated with the public sector, central plains provinces of the upper Chao Phraya river basin in the “Chao Phraya Conservation Project” to harvest water hyacinth in 105-kilometre stretch of the river from Nonthaburi, Pathumthani and Ayutthaya provinces respectively.


2011    Became the authorized distributor of bioremediation agents used in degradation of oil without leaving any chemical residue in the natural environment


2012    Due to the severe flood situation in Thailand, participated in mitigating the impacts by assisting in the excavation of waterways essential for drainage, such as Ban Mai Canal and the Nai Kim Sai 1 Canal under a budget provided by the Office of the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Science and Technology 


2013 Built an 8-seater Airboat for the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) for exploration work at the Mae Moh Dam, fitted with an innovative diesel engine rather than conventional benzene engine in order to save fuel and lower costs.
Excavated the Glow SPP 3 mooring berth at Mab Ta Phud Industrial Estate in Rayong Province to maintain the raceway.


2014 Appointed by the Department of Public Works and Town & Country Planning to provide maintenance and repair services to its fleet of 12 vessels used in harvesting unwanted marine flora, so that they are in a constant state of preparedness as part of the “Return Happiness to the People” Project’s water hyacinth harvest campaign in response to government policy.
Dredged the raceway of IRPC Terminal to ensure its depth was compatible with the size of the vessels using the terminal.


2015 Built 4 water hyacinth harvesting vessels equipped with a Zeus model, paddle-wheel steering system for the Department of Public Works and Town & Country Planning in order to increase the department’s capacity in harvesting water hyacinth in large natural waterways as part of the implementation of the government’s water management policy.
Dredged the raceway of Siam Suksawad Harbour of Siam Gas Co., Ltd. and the IRPC Terminal to ensure its depth was compatible with the size of the vessels using the terminal.


2016 Built 3 water hyacinth harvesting vessels equipped with an Oceanus model, paddle-wheel steering system for the Department of Public Works and Town & Country Planning.
Built 1 water hyacinth harvesting vessel equipped with an Oceanus model, paddle-wheel steering system for Nakhon Pathom Province.
Built 1 water hyacinth harvesting vessel equipped with an Athena model, paddle-wheel steering system for Chaochoengsao Province.
Appointed by the Department of Public Works and Town & Country Planning to provide maintenance and repair services to its fleet of 15 vessels used in harvesting unwanted marine flora, so that they are in a constant state of preparedness as part of the “Return Happiness to the People” Project’s water hyacinth harvest campaign in response to government policy.
